Hotel Lobby AI and Copyright: What Can Get a Post Muted

Most Hotel Lobby AI videos reuse the original recording and the original performance footage, and both are copyrighted. A post that contains the original track can be muted or removed when a platform detects it, especially outside the app's licensed sound library. A video with a newly generated song avoids that match.

Three things in one video

A typical Hotel Lobby AI video mixes three things that belong to someone else. They are separate questions.

WhatWho it belongs toWhere it shows up
The songIts songwriters, the artists and their labelAny video that keeps the original audio
The footageThe producers of the original performanceCharacter-swap videos that edit the original clip
The likenessThe two artists, and the family of the one who has diedVideos that still show, or imitate, the original performers

Why some posts get muted

Short-video apps license music for use inside the app. When you attach a sound from the app's own library, that licence covers the post. A track that is baked into your video file is different: the app's detection system can match it, and the post can be muted, blocked in some countries or removed. The same file posted to another platform, or used in an ad, is not covered by the first app's licence at all.

Labels and platforms have also been tightening their rules on AI and music. In May 2026, Universal Music Group and TikTok renewed their agreement and added commitments on removing unauthorized AI-generated music, as TechCrunch reported.

What changes with an original song

Hotel Lobby AI doesn't use the original recording, the original footage or the artists' likeness. Each video is a new scene generated around your two photos, and the beat, the lyrics and the voices are generated with it. There is no copyrighted track in the file for a detection system to match.

That is not a guarantee. Platforms make their own decisions, and we can't promise how any of them will treat a post. It does remove the most common reason these videos get muted.

Key facts

  • Hotel Lobby AI videos contain a newly generated song, not the 2022 recording.
  • They are generated as a new scene, not edited from the original footage.
  • The original performers do not appear in them.

The photos are on you

The other half is the two photos you upload. Use photos you took or have permission to use, and only of people who are okay with appearing. A video of a real person saying things they never said can break a platform's rules on its own, whatever the music is. The model also rejects many photos of public figures.

Do you own the video?

We don't claim ownership of the videos you make. Whether an AI-generated video is protected by copyright depends on your country. In the United States, for example, the Copyright Office concluded in January 2025 that material generated entirely by AI, without human authorship, is not protected. In practice you can post and share your video, but you may not be able to stop others from copying it.

A short checklist before you post

  • Does the file contain the original track? If yes, expect it to be matched.
  • Is it edited from the original footage? That's someone else's video.
  • Did everyone in your photos agree?
  • Are you posting it as an ad or for a client? Check the platform's commercial music rules first.

Questions

Is the Hotel Lobby AI trend legal?

Making a video is one thing, and reusing a copyrighted recording, footage or someone's likeness is another. Videos that generate a new scene and a new song avoid the first two. Consent for the photos is still your responsibility.

Can I use my video in an ad?

Our terms allow commercial use of videos you make. Platform rules for ads are stricter than for personal posts, so check them first.
